June 18th. A beautiful summers day in a London completely shaken by the terrible incident at Grenfell Tower. And also, Fathers Day. A time for kids to treat their dads to a card and some of his favourite treats. And to just show the love, now more than ever it feels.

And why should the love just be for human daddies hey?

Team DOTS were again out in force, setting up the street station ready to welcome some fur babies and their own daddies to provide love, care and peace of mind. And of course, goodies!

Excitingly, this particular week we were joined by two amazing volunteers; Marc the Vet and Shakira Free Miles.

Marc is a practicing veterinary surgeon, author, and animal welfare campaigner based in Brighton, England and you might have seen him on your telly! He was the resident vet on The Paul O’Grady Show and regularly appears on shows like BBC Breakfast, This Morning and Good Morning Britain giving pet advice.

Marc kindly took time out of his clearly very busy schedule to lend an expert hand – thank you Marc!

Then there’s Shakira. Wow. Inspired by the likes of Marc, Shakira is a veterinary nurse active in many animal welfare societies. She regularly volunteers abroad and is part of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Animal Welfare. Shakira also founded her own campaign known as ‘SaveABulls’ to create awareness about breed specific legislation, promoting responsible dog ownership and an end to breed discrimination.

So combining Marc and Shakira with the rest of Team DOTS made us a force to be reckoned with this week!

And here are some of the volunteers from this week..

@happyhugoandfiggypudding’s human, street nurse Charlotte,  @jadestreetvet @shakirafree, Marc the Vet, Gabe and Frannie from @borninnocentdda

Come on then doggies…your mega team awaits!

Happy, waggy Tyson!

Gorgeous boy Tyson popped by. Given the temperatures team DOTS were equipped with lots of towels to dampen down and apply to dogs bodies to help keep them cool. And Tyson really chilled in his, in both respects! Then off he trotted with a bag of new balls to play with.

Handsome boy Jethro…

Look at this chap! What a good looking pup. He came to see us again after we first met him at our 2nd station! To Jethro’s relief, he had his anal glands drained to get rid of itchy bum bums and had his first of two vaccinations. And of course he left with a bag of goodies & food!

Newbie, gorgeous girl Xena!

We met this pretty lady Xena who was really happy with her bag of Huxley Hound treats, look at her carrying them around! She had a poorly belly so some medication was given as well as a new collar, food and some squeaky toys. Feel better soon Xena.

Lovely ‘K’

First time visitor ‘K’ stopped by and was checked over by Jade the Street Vet who took a little sample from a lump found. This has been sent off for analysis and we’ll report back on this when we know more. ‘K’ left with a new harness , toys, collar,  food, as well as worming & flea treatments. See you again soon ‘K’!

No one puts Babe in the corner…

Ahhh, she’s back again. One of our regulars, Babe came along and enjoyed being cooled down by the wet towels. Babe comes for regular health checks which shows the love and commitment the owners of these dogs give by attending our stations regularly.

WHAT A WONDERFUL DAY!! Thanks to each and every one of our volunteers!
