As we gear up for possibly our hottest doggy station yet this coming Sunday (May 28th), not to mention our first focused inoculation session…let’s look back on last Sunday, May 21st…

Each week, before the weekly station starts, quite often some of the homeless doggy owners now join us a little earlier to assist us in setting up. From helping us to secure the branded canopy, to decorating the pavement around us with lovely chalked artwork. Check this lot out!

And last Sunday, to add to the already beautiful pavement art, we were visited by Sara Abbot and her friend Natasha who did a wonderful doggy portrait of one of our canine guests, Ty. Wow!

Our first visit was from Lola who enjoyed one of our station Kongs filled up with Arden Grange paste which is a special yummy treat for these street dogs! Lola is such a lovely playful pup and when her belly was full she wanted to show it off to anyone passing by!

Next up was Storm whose daddy had come to get some advice about him pulling on the lead which Kimberley (City Dog Expert) shared some important tips and tricks on. One thing to help was to provide him with a harness instead of a lead. Storm chowed down on a Kong too and left with a full bag of essentials…

Babe popped by again for a restock on all the essentials and she thoroughly enjoyed some Harley Bear coco bites. Harley Bear peeps were in attendance at this station too…

Our smallest guest yet? Meet newbie…teeny tiny Roxy! Luckily for Roxy who was being carried about by her daddy, we had just been donated some small dog carrying bags…not to mention small coats. She got fully kitted out! We hope to see you again soon mini pup…stay safe!

Next up, Ty – What a horrid time for poor Ty’s dad. He had recently had everything stolen from him on the streets so team DOTS set about putting as much right as possible, kitting Ty out with a coat, blankets, bowls, dog food, lead. The full works! Here’s to kinder times ahead…

While Michelle and Jade are together at the stations, it doesn’t usually end there for them come 4pm. They will quite often pack up some bits and take to the streets once the main station session is over. Last week they zoomed off to Camden where they bumped into…

Stark…what a handsome boy! He had some icky chewing gum in his fur so Jade got to work on that in no time with some scissors and a brush. We also treated him to a new harness, collar, some Barking Heads and Nature Diet yumminess, toys, flashing dog tag and loads more! Enjoy lovely boy…

Astral…the 15 year old doggy who Michelle has known for 4 years now via her outreach work. He’s in such good condition for his age and all he needed was a new collar, bowl, some water and flea and worming treatments.

Cassie…Oh dear, what a sad face this little lass had. It’s heartbreaking. She is an elderly dog and was in very poorly condition. Having recently lost a lot of weight, Jade checked her over and noticed just how bad the inside of her mouth was. Cassie was very reluctant to let Jade near her mouth at all. And no wonder…it looked like severe dental disease and and an abscess. Poor pup! She must’ve been miserable. But dad did the right thing and listened to Jade who gave the advice that Cassie needed to be treated at a veterinary surgery asap. Ideally Jade wanted to do some blood work first to check out her general condition and bodily functions given her age (approx 14!) to then make the call to anaesthetise her to treat her sore mouth. Thanks to kind donations, this surgery has since gone ahead just days ago, by our very own Jade and Cassie, although perhaps a lot less toothy than she was before, is now in recovery and on the mend…

So that’s two surgeries in two weeks on our fur babies Misty and Cassie! So brilliant that the veterinary service we are able to provide thanks to the kindness and availability of Jade and the donated medications and public donations for further doggy care, puts us in a position to do these treatments to fix our little furry friends.

Great team effort!

So on to this week, and our dedicated vaccination service. We wonder who will rock up…see you soon precious street dogs!
