More furry faces register with DOTS…

More furry faces register with DOTS…

Every few weeks that pass, DOTS will meet and register even more street dogs in order to keep them safe and well supported moving forward during their lives on the streets. Whether via the team taking to the streets to introduce themselves to the homeless and their best friends or newbies turning up to one of the street stations through word of mouth, the numbers just keep growing. In the last couple of weeks alone, a further five doggies have been registered to DOTS care. So shall we meet these gorgeous furbabies? Poppy Poppy was found during the DOTS team Christmas night out! There's nothing that stops this team, even when they are dressed in sequins! Via some high heeled on foot outreach, the vet team checked her over and she was left with a new snuggly coat, some food bowls and of course lots of doggy grub. As we often see with dogs living on the streets, many are fed human food which is...

Thank you to the Big Dog Bed Company

Thank you to the Big Dog Bed Company

Comfort is something our growing number of street doggies don’t get much of. Whilst they are happy to cosy up to their homeless owners on whatever cushioning they can find, what better than a soft and cosy doggy bed? We were recently made and sent two customised doggy beds by the generous people at The Big Dog Bed Company that we are going to try out first on a couple of our dogs who are lucky enough to be in homeless hostels with their owners but that are still not used to home comforts. We think they will love them and never look back! Thank you to The Big Dog Bed Company! As regular followers of DOTS will know, it’s not just the doggy variety of four legged friends we support. At our regular services at homeless hostels, including the Salvation Army, we also see and treat the feline kind. So we were made up when we recently received a lovely package of goodies for cats from the kind folks at Freak Meowt.  Based in Wales, Freak Meowt make gorgeous handmade catnip toys, for the coolest cats in town… We think our kitty friends will be bowled over by these treats. Thank you to Lily’s Kitchen

Thank you to Lily’s Kitchen

Wowee! Where to start with this thank you… As winter starts to creep in, DOTS really does rely on donations to help support our growing number of street dogs through the bitter months. One way to ensure they are well looked after aside from providing warmth, is to make sure that their furry bellies are at least full of nutritious doggy food. DOTS works so hard with the dog owners to educate them as to the need for dog food for their best friends, when some have been used to just getting their hands on anything they can to keep them full, including human food. So we were absolutely delighted to receive an amazing haul from Lily’s Kitchen recently! Wet food, dried food and of course, some doggy advent calendars! Check out this video on our Instagram to see just how unreal the donation was…over 1000 trays of dog food. So, so very grateful. The doggies and their owners send Lily’s Kitchen a great big...

Thank you to Pooch and Mutt

With DOTS going from strength to strength, registering more doggies each and every week, the need for quality dog food to hand out in our essentials bags becomes even more important. So we were blown away when we received 2 big boxes recently of dried food pouches from the lovely peeps at Pooch and Mutt! Yummy free-run chicken and sweet potato grub, perfect for our four-legged street friends…In excellent grab size pouches so that the homeless doggy owners aren't struggling to carry them about too.  Thank you so much Pooch and Mutt! Thank you to Yellow Dog UK

Thank you to Yellow Dog UK

Some doggies, like humans, sometimes just need a little bit of space. Some are overwhelmed by being with other doggies, some don't like to be approached and handled by unfamiliar people. This is never truer than for homeless doggies who apart from their beloved owners, are quite often unsure of who to trust. So we were absolutely thrilled when the kind people of Yellow Dog UK donated us a big box of their doggy bandanas that clearly read I NEED SPACE on them, warning people to consider the dogs needs before approaching them. These are perfect for our street dogs and helps give them a voice. Modelled beautifully below by our very own Poppy, we have started to hand these out to our furry street friends. Meet some of the new furry faces of DOTS!

Meet some of the new furry faces of DOTS!

It’s been a busy few weeks for DOTS, as ever, but we thought instead of giving you the normal rundown of the recent stations, that we’d introduce you to a few of the new furiends that we've made along the way instead! It’s a toughy isn't it. On the one hand we are so thrilled to have more street dogs registered to us week on week, meaning we can keep track of them and their health and needs regularly. But it also goes to show that this homeless crisis is still thriving, something DOTS would love to see on the decline. But for now we are safe in the knowledge that the more that are registered with us, the better. We’ll provide as much care and support to them and their owners as we can, especially as winter creeps in. On that note, could you donate a little dosh to put towards a winter doggy coat or blanket? If you can, please head...

Sunday Station 28…Plus another street station launches!

Sunday Station 28…Plus another street station launches!

It’s been a big week for DOTS this last week. Founder Michelle has had a highly emotional week having been by the side of street dog Poppy who has been living at her house for a number of months now to help her homeless daddy. Poppy has been very poorly of late, undergoing a number of big operations on cancerous lumps. There have been some real ups and downs in the early recovery period post ops. She couldn't be in safer and more loving hands than those of Michelle though. Everyone at DOTS is thinking of both of them and wishing Poppy a very speedy and smooth recovery. Secondly, this week saw the launch of a further street station for DOTS, this one in Whitechapel. DOTS has kindly been offered a private gated car park of a homeless hostel in the area for the running of our station. In this first week alone, we treated 10 furries, both dogs and cats. We’re...

Sunday station 27…and 10 lovely friends

Sunday station 27…and 10 lovely friends

Each Sunday it’s never set in stone just how many precious four legged friends Team DOTS is going to see. Sometimes we have an inkling when owners give Michelle the heads up that they intend to swing by, other times we are reacquainted with doggies who we haven't seen in a while, not to mention complete newbies! Our last Sunday station, October 8th, was a right mix when we saw a wonderful 10 furry friends! Luckily Team DOTS was well manned including new vet Chrissy, Kimberley our trainer, Emma from Purple Bone London, Anna, Robyn, Lesley, Lauren and our homeless buddy Lachlan (the late Misty’s daddy). So let’s meet the 10 furries shall we? Another Tyson… Perhaps not the Tyson you’re used to having updates on, but just as handsome! He is one of the dogs we haven't seen for a while now so it was great that Tyson’s dad knew that if he needed to see us, he knew exactly where to come. After...
